Rabbi Simcha Morgenstern / Camp Director

Rabbi Morgenstern has been an educator and directing camps for over 15 years. Besides directing Camp Gan Israel, he directs Chabad Hebrew School, Cteen and Ckids. Parents have come to trust his leadership and devotion to the success of every child in his care. Rabbi Morgenstern lives in New City together with his wife Simmy and five children, who have dedicated their lives to the Lubavitcher Rebbe's vision of connecting every Jew with their Judaism. 

 

Chana Kaufman / Health Director

This will be Chana's fourth summer as health director with Camp Gan Israel of Rockland County. Chana has 12 years experience as a Registered Nurse with the last 6 working for the NYC Department of Education as a school nurse. Chana has recently completed her Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. When she is not working/studying Chana is mom to 3 beautiful princesses. We feel privileged to have Chana as a part of our staff.

 

 

 

Lori Gordon / Program Director

Lori Gordon has taught both general and special education students from birth through 8th grade for over 20 years. Lori will be spending her 3rd summer at Camp Gan Izzy, but comes with another 6 years of camp experience as activities director. Lori combines fun and learning as the key to her successful programs.

 

 

 

Laurel (Leora) Silverstein

Leora Silverstein has over a decade of experience working with young children and their families. After graduating from the University of Rhode Island, Leora received her Masters in Childhood Education from Bank Street College of Education. Leora has spent her career  working in various school settings including the Hebrew Academy as the Nursery morah. Leora is committed to the Reggio Emilia approach and is looking forward to  
implementing a play-based, child led program filled with Yiddishkeit ensuring each child feels nurtured and excited for camp each day! Leora is also a life long member of the New City Chabad community and feels a strong connection to the  Rebbe’s vision of including every Jew.

Levi Tiechtel / Boys Division Head Counselor

Rabbi Tiechtel joined us last summer as the Boy's Division Head. His impact was immediately felt. With his warm smile and loving approach, he has been a wonderful asset to Gan Izzy. We are excited to have him back for another summer.

 

Bracha Mitzmann / Aquatic Director

Bracha has been our certified Aquatic Director for the past few years. With her focus on safety and dedication to our campers, she has been a great team member. Bracha is available for swim lessons after camp hours. To book a lesson, contact our office at 845-634-0951 ext 104

 


 

 

Stephanie Low / Front Office

Stephanie has been working with children of all ages since 2016. As a local Rockland County resident, she graduated from Clarkstown South Highschool in 2009.  Stephanie has an associate's degree in criminal justice and a bachelor's degree in sociology. Aside from her experience working in pre-school, Stephanie was also an elementary and high school teacher in Israel for 6 years. The love she has for children not only extends to her two little ones at home, but to all of the kids she interacts with on a daily
basis. 

Simon Bitton / Sports Director

Simon Bitton, the founder and owner of Next Level Sports, brings over 20 years of coaching expertise from England and America. His philosophy is simple yet powerful: "Sport has the ability to build confidence, improve skill sets, and cultivate positive character traits. While winning is important, the focus is on creating well-rounded and respectful individuals."

Simon runs a diverse range of sports clinics throughout the year in Monsey and New Jersey as well as working in local schools throughout the year.
